ALTe CEO John Thomas Named One of the Most Influential People in the Electric Automobile Industry for Second Year in a Row
AUBURN HILLS, Mich – June 12, 2012 – John Thomas, co-founder and CEO of ALTe Powertrain Technologies, developer of the first range-extended plug-in electric hybrid powertrain for light commercial fleet vehicle applications, has once again been named to the Automotive News Electrifying 100. The listing compiles the 100 most influential people leading the automotive industry toward a more electric-powered future.
“I’m proud to be named to Automotive News Electrifying 100 list again this year as a recognition of my company’s commitment to deliver the benefits of electrification to fleet managers across the globe,” said John Thomas.
This news coincides with ALTe’s announcement just last week regarding the company’s commitment to spur adoption of hybrid electric technology in the worldwide fleet industry and bolster clean technology jobs in America. Under a Clinton Global Initiative commitment and in conjunction with the 2012 CGI America meeting, ALTe has pledged to develop a first-of-its-kind electric vehicle fleet buying co-op by which fleet customers can consolidate the entire electric vehicle decision-making process in one simple web-based interface. The new website, www.ElectrifyYourFleet.com, which launched its beta version on June 7, will connect corporate and government vehicle purchasers with EV stakeholders – including utilities, charging station providers and finance companies – and notify customers of all available incentives, while offering the benefits of group-rate purchases and simplifying the order-to-delivery process. ALTe hopes to add more EV industry jobs with the new website with a focus on employing veterans and encouraging more women to learn about opportunities in STEM-related industries (Science Technology Engineering & Math).
“Our commitment pledge with CGI will help solve the greatest roadblocks to commercial adoption of electric and plug in hybrid vehicles: eliminating the lack of affordability and simplifying the EV and charging station order fulfillment process” said John Thomas. “This recognition by Automotive News reinforces our goal to revolutionize the fleet vehicle industry.”
“As the electrification of vehicles moves forward, John Thomas and ALTe are playing an important role in integrating systems to bring a cost-effective solution for fleets,” said Peter Brown, publisher and editorial director of Automotive News.
Honorees were celebrated at a special ceremony last night at the Detroit Athletic Club. For a complete listing of all honorees, please visit: http://www.autonews.com/section/electric100
