Controls Engineer

Purpose

Develop prototype and production control systems for hybrid electric vehicles using model based controls, automated code generation and calibration tools. Guide and direct architectural design decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop model-based embedded application software in Matlab/Simulink
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot control systems
  • Solve urgent and complex problems and evaluate alternatives
  • Specify ECU hardware for applications
  • Develop controls algorithms for vehicle behaviors

Education and Experience

  • Desire MS or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science, BS in Engineering or Computer Science and equivalent experience is also acceptable
    • Must have experience with Matlab/Simulink model-based control software development for prototype applications.
    • Experience with calibration tools, electrical interface circuits, and power supply experience a plus.
    • Ability to understand complex electronic and mechanical systems and apply knowledge to algorithm design.
  • Experience in Mechatronic integration, ideally within the Automotive and/or Heavy Duty space, is desired.  Relevant experience could include any of the following:
  • Hybrid electric and/or hydraulic vehicle control, series hybrid experience preferred
  • Transmission control
  • Heating/Cooling/Fluid System control
  • Experience in automotive-related diagnostic development

Current opportunities

Manage the development of prototype and production wiring and power distribution systems for range-extended electric vehicles.

Responsible for delivery of ICE, ICE control systems, Emissions, Fuel Delivery, Exhaust, Engine Controls and OBDII Design, Development and Validation. Responsible for Managing the Engine Team and delivering to Cost, Timing, Quality, Emissions, Certification and Weight Targets. Works with the Controls team to develop controls strategy for the Hybrid System.

Support the integration of a supplier engine and control system into a series hybrid powertrain

Lead Development of prototype and production transmissions for use in hybrid electric vehicles.

Engineer responsible for conducting engineering tests on components, subassemblies and prototype vehicles for ALTe hybrid vehicle applications.

Manage Battery Technology for ALTe. Develop understanding of Cell Chemistry, Cell Manufacturing, Cell Monitoring, BMS strategy including SOC and SOH, Pack Design, HV Management, Charging, Operation at Temperature.

CAD design engineer assigned to doing concept and package studies and designing parts and assemblies for prototype and production applications.

Design engineer responsible for conducting engineering analysis, modeling, designing, releasing and packaging of vehicle components for ALTe hybrid vehicle applications.

Conduct engineering development and Design & Release for hybrid powertrain projects.
